Me

Hi all,

My name is Will Dampier, I’m a PhD Student at Drexel University in the School of Biomedical Engineering and Health Systems.  I specialize in bioinformatics and have done research on microarray data, HIV genomic and clinical data, and evolutionary data.

I’ve been programming for ~10 years.  I started in C/C++ and then moved onto Matlab (which I still compete in their semi-annual competition).  Over the past year or so I’ve moved most of my coding to Python since I’ve started interfacing with webutilites in my research.  Some things (like cookies) were just impossible to do in Matlab.

I love teaching, especially programming.  I run the programming section of the Computational Biology course here at Drexel University (in which I teach matlab techniques).

When I’m not programming I’m usually beating people up in one of the judo clubs around the Philadelphia Area.   I teach most classes at the Drexel Judo Club.  I also train at the Philadelphia Judo Club and the Main Line Judo Club.

You can find more information about me at my LinkedIn Profile.
